About Me

Yusuf Özcan - Multimedia Artist Portrait

Greetings, I am Yusuf Özcan. Computer graphics, installation, gaming, the web, and traditional media are some of the mediums I use in my art practice. With a bachelor's degree in painting, I am constantly expanding my skills to combine different artistic techniques. I use digital media to redefine public space, make explicit distorted conceptions, and disrupt conventional understandings of experiencing the world.

Artist Statement

My practice investigates the intersection of digital and physical spaces, exploring how our understanding of identity, nationhood, and memory is mediated through technology. I am particularly interested in the ways computational processes can both construct and deconstruct meaning, creating new possibilities for understanding our relationship to symbols, language, and shared cultural experiences.

Drawing from my background in painting, I approach digital media with an awareness of its material qualities and limitations. I see code as a form of mark-making, algorithms as compositional tools, and data as raw material to be shaped and reshaped. My work often engages with specific cultural and historical contexts, particularly those related to Turkish identity and collective memory.

Through installations, computational art, and traditional media, I create works that invite viewers to reconsider their relationship to space, time, and the increasingly blurred boundary between the virtual and the real. I believe art can serve as a critical lens through which we can examine and reimagine our technologically mediated existence.
